Contradictory at times, occasionally a little silly, but nonetheless a great book to waste time with. Very pleasant and relaxing... An idler's best friend.

Makes you think about an entirely different lifestyle from which we have become accustom to living! Love the the intelligent humor and the philosophy woven through the reading.

I love this book . I learned about it from a 5 second interview I had heard of Seth Green. If you are a slacker this is your book.

A good guide to doing as little as possible. I didn't realize the English needed help with this!

Don't think I need any particular help in this, but even at the top of your game there's always room for improvement.

Hodgkinson is one of the founders of the Idler magazine, and presents a systematic guide to the Idler lifestyle. Loosely stuctured around the hours of the day, it gives gentle advice on how best to idle in each situation.

Hodgkinson also rounds up selections of the advice of great Idlers and writers on Idling, from Lao Tzu to Jerome K. Jerome. Also has some interesting items: suggests that even notorious anti-Idler Thomas Edison, while boasting of his four hours sleep per night, enjoyed two three-hour naps per day to make it up.

Well worth a look, if you can be bothered.

This was a library loan. I loved this book. I am a loafer by nature.

I enjoyed it a lot - maybe because for the first time ever someone came up with good reasons and brilliant quotes to justify my innate "laziness" :). Whether you find it funny or not, it should make you think about the fact that indeed, the best things in life are free: having a good time with your friends, taking a walk or a nap, reading a good book and others alike. And yes, you do not need to be rich, you can skip work, you can oversleep, you can do whatever you like as life is short. A book for all those who never feel at home in a society packed with workaholics.
