“This book is critically acclaimed, which nowadays is shorthand for a book centered around a self-loathing, semi-affluent white middle-aged man unhappy with his life or circumstances. Basically, the literary equivalent of Sideways. If you liked that movie or don't have any taste, this could be the book for you. Even McEwan's writing talent cannot save this story.”
