I was inspired when I saw this man's story online and was hoping his book would give me insight into his world. Unfortunately, I couldn't get past his preaching...which is ironic, since obviously that was the insight he wanted to share! An amazing life translated into a ho-hum book.

Inspirational, gently Christian but equally available to believers and non-believers alike, this book is surely as intriguing as the author/motivational speaker must be in person. Nick Vujicic’s Life without Limits offers encouragement to readers who twist against the goads of a limited life, from the viewpoint of one whose life is lived without either limits or limbs. The cover picture, of a handsome happy young man, smiling, staring straight at the reader, certainly pulls you in. And it’s only after you’ve been pulled in that you realize what’s “wrong,” or what's missing (arms and legs). But by then you’re already turning the page and you’re hooked.

Nick Vujicic must surely have lived the ultimate in limited lives, carried from place to place, dressed by others, fed by others, trundled around like a doll… but he learned not only to be independent, but also how and when to choose dependence instead. In Life without Limits he offers examples from his own life and from people he’s spoken with to show how readers can choose to change their point of view, and practice unlimited life.

“When you give up on your dreams, you put God in a box,” says Nick in his introduction. But this isn’t a book about God. It’s not a book about blandly accepting the inevitable as just “Well, it must be God’s will.” It’s a book about changing the inevitable. If you’re a believer, it’s a book that will draw you closer to God, proving again and again that in a broken world or broken body, God has a plan for you. Even if you’re not a believer, Nick’s words might entice you with hope. But more than that, his actions and his lessons will propel you forward as surely as his “chicken drumstick” foot propels his truncated body in a swimming pool.

A lovely sense of humor pervades this book, almost inviting you to look more closely at the pictures—yes, it invited me; I searched for Nick on Youtube and Facebook too as soon as I finished reading! But there’s also a valuable serious side to the writing. Nick says, with absolute honesty, there are others in the world with far more problems than he. Then he proves it’s true. He says, with absolute honesty, that we can change our lives, then he proves that too. He confesses to his teenage depression and hopelessness, and proves there really was a way through.

Do you need to change your attitudes? Do you need to set new goals? Do you need more people skills (and just imagine how important such skills must be to someone without arms to defend himself or legs to flee!)? Do you want some practical steps to overcoming your limits? This book has it all in an easy-to-read package, with repetition where it’s needed, a convincing feel of listening to a great speaker, a genuine call to motivate you, and an honest humanity and faith… plus pictures, plus stories, plus laugh-out-loud ridiculous zany fun! Yes, Nick Vujicic really does live and love his life without limits and he’s somebody well worth meeting!

Disclosure: I received a free copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for my honest review, and I count myself ridiculously lucky!

This book, Life Without Limits, I am reading this book in Korean, and have enjoyed it through out the days. Reading this book really makes me encouraged and think about freedom and no worries. Everyone had times when they couldn't bare the situation, and I have lived those days too. However, always, there is someone that encourages me, like my friends and my parents. But also Nick Vujicic. I haven't seen him in person but I would really like to meet him one day and talk to him about his life. All in all, I have enjoyed reading this book, because I found it very helpful to me.

    [I have finished this book.]

I think this book deserves a 5-star rating because instead of a 3rd person point of view, it describes Nick Vujicic's perspective, where it is very touching considering the fact he has no arms and legs. I recommend this book to others because it show a different view on the world, where we complain and other lie helpless. I really liked this book because it really makes you think about your initial perspective on the world compared to one with disabilities.

The life story of the amazingly gutsy Nick Vujicic, who despite being born without arms or legs has an unbelievably infectious zest for life and now travels the world as highly successful motivational speaker. This new edition includes a Personal Action Plan. LIFE WITHOUT LIMITS is the story of gutsy Nick Vujicic, an amazing 28-year-old Aussie born without arms or legs who is now an internationally successful inspirational speaker. Packed full of wisdom, testimonials of his faith and laugh-out-loud humour, Nick tells of life in his 'Chesty Bond' body, his visit to Africa at the age of 20 where he gave away $20,000 of his life savings to the poor, and raised another $20,000 for them on the side, and how he learned to surf, skateboard, dive and more. Noting that 'perfection isn't always perfect' and that 'brokenness can be a good thing', Nick shows how he learned to accept what he could not control and focus instead on what he could. He encourages everyone to find their life's purpose and, whatever their obstacles, go for it. He's already appeared in an acclaimed short film doing his own stunts, and his zest for life is unbelievably infectious. This new edition contains Nick's Personal Action Plan, a tool any reader can use to more precisely determine and track their individual destiny. Winner, 2011 CALEB Prize for faith inspired writing, Reviewer's Choice. Finalist, 2011 CALEB Prize for faith inspired writing, Memoir and Bookseller's Choice categories.

Best book I have ever read! Inspirational, faith-based, systematic approach to getting the most out of life. If anyone could feel sorry for himself, it has to be this author... But he chooses to live an extraordinary life.

I wasn't exactly sure about this one but the title was intriguing. I knew about it only by title and author, as it was preloaded onto the Kindle I'd borrowed from the library. I started reading it but was almost put off by the almost constant references to religion and God (I was raised in a religious manner and it still seemed over the top) but after the first third, these references were toned down and I really enjoyed learning more about this amazing man. So many times I thought "wow, that puts things in perspective" or found passages that really resonated with me and my life. He is such an inspiration and writes in a manner that inspires others to be the best they can be. After all, if Nick can do so many wonderful things with no arms and legs, I surely can do more, both for my fellow humans and also for me. If you can get through the strong "god" parts at first, I think you'll really be inspired by this book too.

Inspirational and motivational. Repetitive at times. Very interesting story though.
