Seinlanguage

by Jerry Seinfeld

Seinlanguage could easily be subtitled The World According to Jerry. First published in 1993, when Seinfeld the sitcom was establishing itself as the funniest half-hour on television, this is a collection of Jerry's musings on everything from relationships to shushing in movie theatres. Observational comedy may have reached epidemic proportions recently, but Jerry Seinfeld was, and is,... (read more)

Loved the show. Hate the book. I bought this to read on the plane during a recent trip because it had short passages that could be read seperately and still be enjoyed.

However, I didn't find most of them funny, even when I imagined him on stage telling them. I don't recommend this book but suggest the DVD's of the show instead.

There is just something about Jerry Seinfeld. Although this book was published years ago, and the show has been off the air for eight years, reruns still tend to be one of today's most popular entertainment viewings. The jokes are timeless.

Although you can rent/purchase the DVD's for all the seasons, you may still like this book to add to your Seinfeld collection. If anything, it allows you to speak SeinLanguage at any point during the day. Pick it up for 5 minutes on a work-break, while commuting, or have happy dreams right before you go to bed. Chances are, you will pick it up again in 10 years and find it is still funny.
Just buy it!

When I picked up this book on the discount rack years ago, I thought it was an autobiography. As it turns out, it is a book full of his classic "observations." I am not disappointed. This is an absolutely hilarious book. Every time I pick it up (and I have several times) I laugh out loud at the stories. A sure pick me up on a depressing day. Just buy it!

I love Seinfeld's sense of humor. I loved the TV show. I own all the available DVD's. I'm eager to see him on stage.

As for this book, if you've seen the show, you will have heard the jokes. I was hoping that the book would have talked about more about his life. I would have liked to read about his relationship with Mike Costanza, the guy who was to a degree the inspiration for the antics of "George Costanza". It would have been nice for Jerry to acknowledge the extent to which Mike Costanza helped Jerry become a success. A good book to read that covers that subject is, "The Real Seinfeld: As Told by the Real Costanza" by Mike Costanza and Greg Lawrence. I strongly recommend that book if you want to read about Jerry's rise to fame and glory.

Sadly, this book doesn't do more than tell us jokes we've already heard.
this is a funny book

I like that this book is written by Jerry Seinfeld himself. I love the tv show, and I love the book! The book is funny, and I even find myself laughing outloud. To me, seinfeld is a classic, since the jokes can be understood to all members of a family. You don't find many shows these days that are as good as "seinfeld." And this book is hilirious as well(and captures the comedy of Seinfeld), and it's also a quick and fun read:)
