“Heroine's daughter has just graduated high school. A single mom since she got pregnant at 15, the heroine feels she can finally spread her wings and fulfill her dreams of owning the inn at the local lake. Then she discovers that the bank has sold it out from under her to a man who's sort of been her nemesis a good part of her life. He still wants her to manage the inn, as she'd agreed to do with the bank, but without the possibility of ownership, she doesn't see the point. Especially since she's still attracted to him. And he's got younger kids, who are reeling from their parents' divorce. She wants to be through with all that. This is a complex story about ordinary people who live ordinary, complicated lives. The story focuses mostly on the relationships between the various people and how they're coping with the complications, many of which have their origins in the past. Wiggs uses flashback to show these past events, weaving them nicely into the story. I liked the story, though to me, it seemed to lack intensity. I think maybe because of all the myriad elements and characters and relationships she kept wandering off to tell us about... This is kind of a saga story. Nice read.”
