This is the latest in the Lakeshore Chronicles. Nina Romano is ready to embark on a new adventure after her daughter Sophie is grown and flown. She has been a single mother devoted to the wefare of Sophie. Now she wants to fulfill a lifetime dream of owning the Inn at Willow Lake. Several obstacles arise, among them Greg Bellamy.

Continuation of the Lakeshore Chronicles- which I've really enjoyed. This one wasn't my favorite of the series. In her effort to keep all the character's stories going, I felt that the main character, Nina Romano, got lost. Nina, the town's former mayor, had a strong story in the former Chronicle, which could have- and should have- been explored in this book but instead was relegated down to one or two sentences. The story felt scattered which was unlike her previous two books in this series. That being said, this was still a fun book to read. A light "beach" read and would still encourage me to read the final installment. But I have to wonder... with all the Bellamys to chose from, why (and I do mean WHY??) chose the ex-wife who ditched her family and moved across the ocean to base the final book on?

I love Susan WIggs. She is absolutely fantasic. The only complaint (TINY) is that you have to read all of these books in series order to understand what is going on.

Heroine's daughter has just graduated high school. A single mom since she got pregnant at 15, the heroine feels she can finally spread her wings and fulfill her dreams of owning the inn at the local lake. Then she discovers that the bank has sold it out from under her to a man who's sort of been her nemesis a good part of her life. He still wants her to manage the inn, as she'd agreed to do with the bank, but without the possibility of ownership, she doesn't see the point. Especially since she's still attracted to him. And he's got younger kids, who are reeling from their parents' divorce. She wants to be through with all that. This is a complex story about ordinary people who live ordinary, complicated lives. The story focuses mostly on the relationships between the various people and how they're coping with the complications, many of which have their origins in the past. Wiggs uses flashback to show these past events, weaving them nicely into the story. I liked the story, though to me, it seemed to lack intensity. I think maybe because of all the myriad elements and characters and relationships she kept wandering off to tell us about... This is kind of a saga story. Nice read.
