  • Gurl: Raised at Hope House orphange and named "Gurl" because she is just a plain and boring girl, Gurl discovers that she can become invisible. She is one of the two main characters in the book.
  • Bug, aka Chicken: Bug, a recent arrival at Hope House, calls himself Bug because of his widely-spaced eyes and desire to fly. He teams up with Gurl in this book as they learn more about their pasts.
  • Sweetcheeks Grabowski: Handsome man around his mid 30's,he is a notorious robber and bug's father. He is after Gurl aka the wall.
