Wow! I finished the series! I thoroughly enjoyed each book along the way; however, I was slightly disappointed with the way it ended. I can understand from Jack Whyte's perspective why it had to be the way it is, but I was hoping for a little more controversy, dilemma, or inner conflict. He totally ignored all of the popular theories around Arthur, Lancelot and Guinevere but did address them right at the very end.

I thought the last book in the series was a fabulous ending to Whyte's version of the Arthurian legend. I read it very quickly, and I'm kind of sad to see the series go...

I really enjoyed this whole Camulod series. Here in the last book you finally have Arthur, Guenevere, and Lancelot. Earlier on in the series I despaired of ever getting here, as Whyte covers three generations but actually some of the earlier books are a bit better. If you love the Arthurian legend do not try reading just this book. You can enjoy this series without an Arthurian predilection as it reads like a historical novel of post Roman Britain for the first four books anyway. Start with The Skystone and wind your way through the series without impatience. The journey's the thing and Whyte spins his tales with lots of imagination and mystery and a fair dash of sexuality and occasional violence. He's done his research and takes the approach that Camelot was the result of some Roman culture preserved after the Romans withdrew.
