Liked It“Realised part way through that this is the second in the series - didn't seem to matter as it stands alone well. Lots of action and great characters. Will look for the others.” see full review » see other reviews » |
Didn’t Like It“Pretty tiresome book with the requisite superhero, faithful sidekick, beautifaul helpers, and lost soul to redeem. They shoot magic bullets, and wear magic vests. Don't know how this got a recommendation. There are much better books with hostage rescue as a theme.” see full review » see other reviews » |

I'll definitely read another of John Gilstrap's books, but not just yet; I need to give the murder/killing/blood and guts a rest and read something nithe. ”

I don't know if the characters had been explained in other books but as this was the first one I'd read I never got a real feel of the players.
Didn't love it enough to try another book with these charecters.”
“From his first foray into the suspense and thriller genre, Nathan's Run, I have enjoyed John Gilstrap's storytelling. Taking for granted that he is an excellent writer (which he has proven time and again) his creative mind has repeatedly crafted a driving, emotionally filled story.
Gilstrap consistently involves young children in his stories and does so with the understanding of someone who has spent years in the field, or as a teacher. I am not aware of Gilstrap's actual experience in these fields, but am convinced that he knows what he is writing about and that he does it with conviction.
Jonathan Grave is a character with a dramatic legend. This newly created protagonist, (first outed in Gilstrap's most recent novel, No Mercy) will win the heart of most men as he jousts for a righteous cause, taking no prisoners in the process. Grave probably will appeal to a few women as well, since his sense of justice is paramount.
Congrats, Mr. Gilstrap. This reader has added you to his very short list of those from whom he buys the "Author Name" rather than the "Title." ”

With Digger and Boxers leading the charge his two new anti-hero protagonists have set a new standard in kick butt, take no prisoners, actions and rescues. Gilstrap is a master storyteller with gut wrenching action sequences, intense personal relationships, and a great supporting cast of characters. This is a must read...”
