• Claire Danvers: A smart 17 year old girl that came to Morganville to go to college. She is trusted by the leaders of the town, and works for Myrnin. She is Shane's girlfriend.
• Shane Collins: Shane is Claire's boyfriend. He is always goofing around, but is reliable and serious when needed. He has a terribly strained relationship with his father, Frank Collins.
• Michael Glass: Michael owns the house where he, Eve, Claire, and Shane live. He is a talented musician and a vampire. Michael is Eve's boyfriend.
• Eve Rosser: Eve is Claire's fun and witty best friend. Eve is a 'goth princess' and always has interesting outfits. She likes to dress up Claire too. Eve is Michael's girlfriend.
• Myrnin: Myrnin is a very old genius vampire. He is normally sane, but he has bouts of forgetfulness that lead him to act crazier than he usually is. Myrnin is Claire's boss and teacher in science and alchemy.
• Amelie: Amelie is the founder of Morganville. She is a vampire and always has the last word on everything that happens in town.
• Oliver: Oliver is the other vampire leader of Morganville. He is always fighting with Amelie and wants to be the sole ruler of Morganville.
• Frank Collins: Shane's father, he has a very strained relationship with him, due to the amounts of drinking and abuse Shane suffered from him after his daughter was killed and his wife committed suicide.
• Monica Morrell: Queen bee, likes to bully people. Claire's worst enemy, she's evil and psycho.
