Yes, this is a lovely book. HOWEVER, a book such as this could draw more followers IF the writers didn't do so much anthropomorphizing. The photos are gorgeous and the opportunity to "meet" farmed animals as distinct, sentient individuals can certainly change how one sees dinner on a plate. Twenty-two years ago, I saw chicken bones on my dinner plate in a way I'd never seen them before and I stopped eating farmed animals. I'm sorry, but for all the compassion I have for animals -- wild, farmed, home companions -- they are not "persons" and "someone." They ARE beings, creatures, individuals with their own lives -- but "persons"? These writers use terminology that makes me uncomfortable and if it makes me uncomfortable, then it also runs a very real risk of turning off the very type of individuals it aims to reach.
