“I enjoyed the second book in the series, but found that it just didn't have the same "pow" that the first novel had. The scenario in the maze runner made a lot more sense than this one - especially with certain individuals doing things they "had to do" is an idea it itself that doesn't fit. The book also left with a significant cliff hanger... I did like this novel, but really hope that the third installment takes it back up to the level of the first...”

Ever since I turned the last page of The Maze Runner, I've been wanting to get my hands on book 2. After reading the first few paragraphs of The Scorch Trials, I was definitely hooked.
In my opinion, The Scorch Trials must be read after The Maze Runner, because it picks up right where book one left off. I think you'll miss out on a lot of details if you read them out of order, but that's totally up to the readers.
I have to say, James Dashner is a genius. Lol, everything was so intense and full of twists and turns, I had no clue what would happen next. The only thing that disappointed me in the end was...well... the end. It left off just like that, and just like the ending of book one, left me hanging. I guess that's how the author makes his readers anticipate the next installment!
The cover is really fitting for the story. Its not what you'll call pretty, but then again, The Scorch Trials is anything but pretty. The cover gives us a small glimpse at how the Scorch, where Thomas (the main character) and his fellow Gladers (friends) have to get past on Phase Two of WICKED's trials, looks like. I like it :D.

“Just like with the first book, I love it! (maybe even a little more) I wish I didn't have to wait another year to read the last book in this series. Totally lovin' James Dashner.”

While I liked the new challenge the boys faced and enjoyed the new characters and plot twists, it was all just a bit too gory for me. Maybe I'm just too old and too much of a girl for this kind of stuff. A teenage boy reader probably wouldn't find it as gruesome and gory as I did. That said, I will be reading the next and final book. I need to see how it all wraps up.”

It's definitely better than the first book. It takes a little while to get into the meat of the story but once I did, I was hooked. I found myself gasping out loud at several points in the story. I still can't figure out what is truly behind the trials. I feel like if I was a little bit smarter I could figure it out.”

Meanwhile, Teresa has been taken and is being forced to betray Thomas.
Yes, I enjoyed this book because it was an interesting thing to read about it, and it was fun to figure out how to solve Thomas and Teresa's situations along with them.
I would recommend this book to people who like science fiction books or adventurous books because this book is both.”
