After accepting the death of her husband, Jake, Jamie Bryan is finding a way to cope with her post 9/11 life. She volunteers and St. Paul's Cathedral in honor of her husband and his heroic acts. She continues to unconditionally love her daughter, Sierra, and Jamie starts to feel as though she is ready to fall in love again. She knows Aaron is not the right man, but Clay might be. After saving her life from college-aged thugs, Jamie and Clay, a police officer from Los Angeles, spend every spare second together. They experience ups and downs and a surprising twist in their relationship when they realize they are more connected than they thought. Jamie knows it is time to move on however, and does so with Jake's words in mind, "Choose life." Jamie's choice to live allows her to start over, and have a second chance at happily every after.
