Jake and Jamie Bryan have the best possible marriage. Their love for each other and their daughter flows through all of their action. Jake is a faithful man and a firefighter for the FDNY and Jamie is a stay-at-home mom struggling to find her faith in the midst of previous tragedy.
Eric and Laura Michaels have everything but the perfect marriage. In the midst of their broken relationship, Eric leaves for a business trip without saying the 3 most important words.
On the morning of Tuesday, September 11, 2001, Eric walks right into his boss' office on the 64th floor of the World Trade Center's South Tower. Within a few hours, he encounters Jake Bryan rushing up the stairs to save the lives of as many people as he can. Eric and Jake's encounter leaves both of them with a feeling of wonder. Their lives become intertwined in a mixed up, shaken world in the aftermath of the terrorist attacks of 9/11.
