Characters/People edit see section history

  • Scarecrow: he is a scarecrow with brains
  • Cap'n Bill: Not so very old, although his hair was grizzled -- what there was of it. Most of his head was bald as an egg and as shiny as oilcloth, and this made his big ears stick out in a funny way. His eyes had a gentle look and were pale blue in color, and his round face was rugged and bronzed. Cap'n Bill's left leg was missing, from the knee down, and that was why the sailor no longer sailed the seas.
  • Glinda: Good witch of Oz
  • Blinkie: An evil witch that lives in the land of Jinxland.
  • Dorothy Gale: A young girl originally from Kansas that now lives in the land of Oz.
  • King Krewl: The King of Jinxland
  • Gloria: the niece of King Krewl, who is her guardian
  • Pessim: a little man, with a long pointed beard called the Observer
  • Ozma: The Queen of Oz.
  • Pon: the gardener's boy
  • Trot: She was a very little girl, with big, solemn eyes and an earnest, simple manner.
  • Betsy Bobbin: A young girl that found her way to Oz and now lives there.
  • Googly-goo: a rich courtier who wants to marry Gloria. He is old enough to be Gloria's father.
  • Button-bright: The most remarkable thing about Button-Bright was that he was always quiet and composed, whatever happened, and nothing was ever able to astonish him.
  • Ork: An Ork has wings, though, and queer wings: shaped like an inverted chopping-bowl and covered with tough skin instead of feathers. It has four legs -- much like the legs of a stork, only double the number -- and its head is shaped a good deal like that of a poll parrot, with a beak that curved downward in front and upward at the edges, and was half bill and half mouth. Iit has no feathers whatever except a crest of wavy plumes of a scarlet color on the very top of its head.
