• Josh: Josh is the main character. At the end of Grade 6 leading in to the summer that will soon lead to Grade 7. Josh's Mom dies from a car accident. He is in a complicated relationship with Karen & is trying to figure out how the snake got into his Mom's that caused her death.
• Sammie: Josh's little 4 year old brother. That loves snakes & spiders, and carries around a blue power ranger that is a reminder of his mom. Sammie thought that if people started to walk backward then you would be able to remember the person better after they are gone. Likes to play soccer & draw.
• Karen: Is dating Josh but its "Complicating". Went away to camp after Josh's mothers funeral.
• Dad: Ever since Mom died he has been trying to build a time machine, and has been absent minded since her death.
• Mom: Died June 30th from a Car accident. There ended up being a snake in her car and she has a phobia of snakes and drove her car start into a tree & died.
• Karen's Mom: A nice lady that helped Josh with the mom book.
• Simpson: Josh's bestfriend that moves somewhat far away but, continues to go to his middle school.
• Dr. Tierney: Josh, Sammie's & there Dad's therapist. Helps them through the mourning.
• Aunt Laura: Was helpful in a way to get Dad acting like a Dad again, but didn't exactly understand that they need time to heal & that saying "everything is going to be okay doesn't mean anything".
• Cheetah: One of Josh's Mom's student's that liked her very much & is very nice to Josh. Is good friends with Jim.
• Mitchell: A colleague of Josh's Mom that got her office after she died. Was one of her good friends & was extremely nice to Josh & Sammie.
• Jim: One of Josh's Mom's student's that liked her very much & is very nice to Josh. Is good friends with Cheetah.
• Ameer: Josh's friend, that has divorced parents that can never get along or even be near each other.
• Simpsons Mom: A great Mom that loves Simpson, Josh & Sammie.
• Simpsons Dad: Josh's Best friends Dad. Doesn't seem like a big fan of kids, and doesn't really try to contact/talk to Josh.
• Ameer's Mom: Josh's friend Ameer's Mom. Can't be in the same place with Ameer's Dad with out arguing since there divorce.
• Mr. Simpson: Coach of the little kid's soccer team (Chloe & Sammie). He is Chloe's father, & they live in the same neighborhood as Josh & Sammie.
• Chloe Simpson: Sammie's 4 year old friend that is on the same soccer team as Sammie that is ran by her father. Lives in the same neighborhood as Sammie & Josh , and is Sammie's little "girlfriend".
• Ameer's Dad: Jpsh's friend Ameer's Dad. Can't be in the same place with Ameer's Mom with out arguing since there divorce.
