“An excellent review of the interwoven and almost symbiotic relationiship between the early Christian church and the slowly disintegrating Roman Empire. The book loses a bit of focus in the last two chapters as the High Middle ages are rushed though to arrive at the Christianity of Thomas Aquinas. Recommended nonetheless.”
