I found I was forcing myself to like this book. It wasn't even the slightest bit funny. I managed to get half way through and the plot was just.. ugh. Extremely boring.

Spud is about a kid in middle school that seems to be having hard times with friends and his love life. Since I have read this book and there is a few words that can be awkward, I don't recommend this book to people that handle them. Some where in the middle of this book it talks about his girl friend, named the mermaid. She has loved him for a while and since he had moved to a private school they haven't been communicating. Later, on the day he finally visits her, she seems to be very sick and he must leave, she was so pale it was as if she was gonna die. In time problems have solutions and everything goes nicely. Even though I kinda enjoyed it I still say this might not be the book that other people would prefer to read or be comfortable with.

John 'Spud' Milton arrives at boarding school not knowing what to expect. His first year is very interesting, involving musicals, girls and making friends. My favourite Spud book.

Much like Catcher in the Rye, only more entertaining and light hearted.
