In 1st grade a boy named Penn Webb came to Crash Coogan's house looking for a friend. Crash was skeptical about him, but soon they became friends. When Crash came over to Penn's house, he realized they were not the typical family; they lived in a garage, were vegetarian Quakers, and all Penn talked about was his great-grandpa. He never went there again. It's seventh grade, and Crash was the star of the football team and was known for being a trouble maker. Crash's adventurous grandfather, named Scooter, came up to live with them. He was fun, was always at Crash's games (unlike his parents), and shed light on the Coogan family. Webb tries out for cheer and makes it, which is another reason for Crash to make fun of him. When Scooter is sent to the hospital, he realizes that Webb was always there for him, and Crash should be grateful. The Penn relays are this week, and Crash wants to make it up to him.
