- Iku Kasahara: Iku has always dreamed of being in the Library Defense Forces. She is great at physical feats, but not so interested in studying.
- Akaso Shibazaki: Shibazaki is Kasahara's roommate and best friend. She is great at studying and works as an actual librarian in the library.
- Instructor Mikihisa Komaki: Dojo's friend and fellow instructor. A fan of Kasahara's.
- Instructor Atsushi Dojo: Kasahara's instructor, who equal parts likes and dislikes her.
- Major Ryusuke Genda: Part of the task force that Kasahara is assigned to. Respects her even if he thinks of her as a loose canon. Sometimes paired up with her as her instructor.
- Hikaru Tezuka: Kasahara's equal and the other 'trainee' assigned to the task force of Genda, Komaki and Dojo. Thinks he is a lot better than Kasahara. Very book smart.
- Commander Kazuichi Inamine: An older man in a wheelchair. Head of the Defense Force.
