“I have enjoyed Kurlansky's other books, but this was made unenjoyable by his lack of baseball understanding. I don't want to read an explanation of what a grand slam is, and I can't imagine anyone picking up this book who would need that explanation. Hitting .298 is not the same as getting a hit once every three times at bat. You don't "score a home run."”
