I mostly agree with the other reviews on here. While The Sunrise Lands was an enjoyable novel in its own right, it wasn't quite up to the standards of the first three in the series. Still, I look forward to the next story of life after the change!

Good post apoc/ fantasy stuff. Also it has a sharp Frisbee, so points for the mad max refrence.

The next installment in Stirling's 'The Change' series.

Not too bad but nowhere near as good as the first 3 books in this series - kind of looks like the author wanted to extend a powerful series with great characters beyond it's shelflife.

Mr Stirling must have read my previous comment on his author's photo, because he now has a less nerdy, more respectable fantasy writer pic in the back of this book.

I love this series. Reading this made me go back & read the other 3 again.

New series, based on an earlier series, which I haven't read. This book started off well, set the stage for an epic tale, then slowed down a little, building the story, and picked back up again well before the somewhat of a cliff-hanger ending. The characters are well thought out, and well developed, which does tend to slow the action some. The tale is set in a near future, post-apocalyptic America, where the survivors are reduced to medieval living. Most of the formerly highly populated areas are vast wastelands, now populated by cannibalistic savages, but several areas(particularly the Pacific Northwest) are flourishing, though constantly on watch from pirates and religious fanatics. All in all, a pretty good start, and I'm looking forward to the rest of the series.

My housemate got me hooked on Stirling's alternat history works, and the "Dies the Fire" series is my favorite so far.
