Abel's Island is about a mouse named Abel. He and his wife were having a picnic when a hurricane blew overhead. They ran into a hole with other animals, and then Abel's wife's scarf blew away. Abel jumped out and caught it, but was blown away from the hole and onto an island. The current was too strong for him to swim across, so Abel tried to escape using a makeshift raft with a rudder. it was blown apart. Then Abel tried a boat with oars, but it failed as well. He thought about making a bridge but couldn't. Months passed and a frog named Gower showed up. They became friends. Gower needed to rest for a week or so before trying to cross again. After Gower left, the current was calm enough for Abel to swim across. This was because after the storm, the bank had risen, and then winter brought melted snow water that kept the water too high to cross through. After he got home he was so happy! He snuck home and surprised his wife when she returned from a party.
