Virginia Readers' Choice 08-09
This historical fiction novel is based on the author's own father's experience in Denmark during WWII. Denmark was easily taken over by Hitler and was referred to as "Hitler's Canary". However, many Danes came together to help Jewish Danes escape the country so they were not sent to concentration camps.
