I found the story of the Eternals to be much simpler than Gaiman's usual writings. It was a joy to read and very interesting. However...is it unfinished or is it supposed to end that way?

Strange, bizarre, and a bit "out there." It's more "1602" than "Sandman." Neil never fails to impress. This is a story about immortals known as the Eternals who rule the earth. However, many of the Eternals have been "sleeping" or unaware of their powers and abilities or their past. They have been living normal human lives. The story deals with the re-awakening of several Eternals. They realize their powers and band together to fight an old enemy which has risen to try and take over mankind.

Great story that takes place in the Marvel Universe without really being part of the mainstream...these are all different heroes and villains which are self contained in this book. You don't need to know anything about the Marvel Universe to read and enjoy this book.

This is yet another one of Gaiman's toying with throwing myths into a modern day setting. Enjoyable as a stand-alone story, but be warned that the ending leaves off as a 'to be continued' sort, with no sequels in sight.

I have never been a comic book reader and, honestly, do not think I am changing my ways just yet. I liked this story which is the history of how the Eternals came to Earth and the ancient race of alien (robot-like?) creatures that created them and all other life on the planet.

Smog 5 out of 5 stars Ok, I am going do this since everyone is picking a novel. Neil Gaiman at his best- The Eternals 5 out of 5. Heroes before there was Heroes. This is a reworking of an old Kirby comic imprint from the 1970's, people start having flashbacks to when they were GODS, but wait they really are GODS in disguise and must save the world. What is amazing is watch how he plays not only with the superhero/god trop but makes all the normal insecurities of a people magnify through their awaking powers.

He really is one of the best graphic novelist out there. Marvel just lets him play and sets no rules for him.

Moke 3 out of 5 stars I have never been a comic book reader, but I liked this story which is the history of how the Eternals came to Earth and the ancient race of alien (robot-like?) creatures that created them and all other life on the planet. Even though I enjoyed reading something new and in a form I do not normally experience, I think I enjoy the standard - wordy - book more. The drawings (and particularly the illustrations at the end at the start of each chapter) were truly amazing. I also enjoyed reading the interview with Neil Gaiman and learning about what a complex process comic book and graphic novel creation is and how many people are involved.

This is a re-telling of an old classic marvel comic. It is a story about a race of beings created by the celestials (who are essentially gods). These beings are called the Eternals, and are places on earth to serve and protect it until the Celestials believe it is no longer viable, and then they will end it. The story has a mystery in that many of the Eternals no longer remember themselves as those protectors, and they must take a journey (that the reader must take with them) to find who they are, and save the earth from a new perceived evil. The end had an interesting twist, but it started a whole new story that I'm not sure there's a sequel out for yet, or if there will be. I'll have to look more into it. The graphic novel seemed to pose more questions than give answers. I find that intriguing except that I'm worried they won't be answered. It may be that I'm not well versed enough in the super hero universe created by Marvel to understand. I'm not big into the typical superhero comics. It was still a great story and a captivating read.
