“This continues the story of Mirei who must rescue doppelgangers from the Air prime who was rebelled against the new ways. The Void Prime Satomi is leading the new line of witches who have embraced doppelgangers. Miryo's friend Eikyo helps Satomi comvince the other witches to follow her by pretending to fail her test and thus become a Cousin. I was curious about Cousins from the first book and now we learn their role in Witch life. There is still lots of action and adventure as well as suspense. The writing has improved and more character development is taking place particular with Satomi and Ashon. I love the idea of training new doppelgangers in hunting and spells. THe adventures Merei and the two trainees get into is much better then the fights in Doppelganger. Eclipse also has a major role to play and its nice to see things from his point of view. He swore a blood oath against his will to kill Mirei and Mirei knows that she has to find a solution to save Eclipse or he will die. Sadly there is no view from Eikyo's POV the only POV covered are Eclipse, Mirei and Satomi. This makes for a very complicated story in which many questions are not answered. I'm hoping for another installment in this fabulous series. ”

For the witch to master her powers, the twin must be killed. Until now... Created by the merging of witch and doppelganger, Mirei is a unique being. Her extraordinary magic makes her the most poweful witch alive -- and a notorious social outcast. While Satomi, the leader of the witches' ruling Primes, hails Mirei as a miracle, rival Primes proclaim that Mirei is an evil abomination...and that those who champion her must be destroyed. Now the different witch factions engage in a bloody war with magic, treachery, and murder. But both sides may be fighting for nothing. For the power that the rebel Primes fear, the magic that Mirei alone possesses, is killing her.

“A very compelling read. As a sci-fi geek, I normally shy away from fantasy, as odd as that may seem. However, this is somewhat atypical of the fantasy genre in my opinion.
The story has a lot of intellectual content, as does the earlier book of this duology (Doppelganger, now published as Warrior). Moreso than other fantasy works I've read, there is a lot of theoretical and ethical discussion. I really liked that.”

It was a perfect sequal! The ending left me wanting a third, but I was not left hanging! You will enjoy it!”
“I didn't really care for this book, the first three chapters were confusing and it took me a while to catch up with everything that was happening. It would have helped a lot if I read the first book of the series "Doppelganger", too bad I didn't know of its existence at the time! My bad:)
I didn't really like the end, I was sort of hoping for a little extra honestly, but anyways...
Don't read this book unless you read Doppelganger first! ”
