  • Kendra: One of the main characters. She is Fairykind. She starts to like Bracken after she meets him at Living Mirage.
  • Seth: Kendra's brother, who happens to be a shadow charmer. An adventurer who has learned life isn't all fun and games.
  • Grandma Sorenson (Ruth): Wife to Stan Sorenson, and grandma to Kendra and Seth.
  • Grandpa Sorenson (Stan): Fablehaven's caretaker, and Captain of the Knights of the Dawn. Grandpa of Seth and Kendra
  • Sphinx: A human who used the Font of Immortality to gain longevity. Led both the Knights of the Dawn and the Society of the Evening Star. Wanted to open the demon prison Zzyzx thinking that he could transact with and dominate the demons. Mastermind and master deciever
  • Patton Burgess: Legendary person who was very smart and studied preserves like Fablehaven. He was a former caretaker at Fablehaven, and Seth and Kendra's ancestor. He was very adventurous like Seth. Has helped them through different ways.
  • Bracken: One of the Sphinx's prisoners and a unicorn.
  • Warren: He is the most mundane out of the characters. He is an adventurer and part of the Knights of Dawn.
  • Tanu: Samoan potions master.
  • Dale: Warren's brother, takes care of logistics in Fablehaven.
  • Eternals: Add a description of this character.
  • The Singing Sisters: For a price they tell Seth where he may find the sword Vasilis, and provide information on how to get it.
  • Vanessa: A narcoblix—someone who can control others in their sleep after biting them. Although she originally worked for the Sphinx, she helps Seth get Vasilis and fights for the Knights of the Dawn in the great battle at the opening of Zzyzx
  • Grandma Larsen: Kendra and Seth's other grandma.
  • Grandpa Larsen: Kendra and Seth's other grandpa.
  • Agad: One of the original wizards that helped for Zzyzx, caretaker at Wyrmroost and ultimately caretaker at Living Mirage. A leader in forming the new prison for the demons of Zzyzx.
  • Raxtus: A small dragon who was incubated by fairies and because of that has several special abilities that no other dragon has, on the downside, he also lacks many of the other dragons common abilities.
  • Cormac: A leprechaun living in Fablehaven, he has three items left with him by Patton Burgess that Seth needs.
  • Gorgrog: The demon king.
  • Nagi Luna: A power-hungry demon
  • Graulus: A terrible demon who was at the brink of death. He lives in a cave at Fablehaven and has been of some help to Seth in the past. Asks for the Sands to heal him.
  • Doren: A satyr, he lives at Fablehaven and is Seth's friend. He goes with Seth to the Shoreless Isle and helps in the battle when Zzyzx is opened.
  • Newel: A satyr, he lives at Fablehaven and is Seth's friend. He goes with Seth to the Shoreless Isle and helps in the battle when Zzyzx is opened.
  • Hugo: A golem who lives and serves the family at Fablehaven. He becomes a good friend of Kendra and Seth.
  • Fairy Queen
  • Bubda: A hermit troll who lives in, and is stuck in, a magical interdimensional storage room accessed through an enchanted knapsack. He also loves Yahtzee.
  • Mendigo: A wooden puppet who was destroyed in the last book, but Agad promises to restore him to his original state. The Fairy Queen said that she would add a spark of life to him as well.
  • Coulter: A magic relics collected who help out around fablehaven.
