I started reading this book a couple of days ago and im fascinated by it. The fact that this topic is being addressed openly is amazing. Even though we are in " modern society" these types of subjects are still considered taboo or just something one doesnt mention. It caught my attention and so far so good !

The flashback continues from the party of Liam and his friend Alyson’s party. The cake was divided in half with football field with players on one side and a pink ballerina on a painted lake on the other side. After they sing and eat the cake Liam wanted the ballerina from Alyson’s side of the cake. Alyson let’s Liam have it because she was into unicorns. Alyson got a lot of girl toy’s and Liam holds them a little too long. When they open all of the presents Liam got mad and sad because he didn’t get the toys he wanted such as a bra and barbie. Eventually their dad takes Liam to have a talk about what had just happened.

Regan and Liam go to school, but Liam leaves Regan. When Regan reaches for the handle of the car she sees a look in Liam’s eyes that she has seen before. She goes into another flashback of how Liam and his friend Alyson shared a birthday party together. Liam’s birthday wish list consisted of a prom barbie and bra. The mom shows the dad and the dad laughs because he thinks it is a joke, but it wasn’t. When Regan smashed her finger she yell’s ow even though it didn’t hurt. He dad kisses her fingers and swung Regan around in a circle until they got dizzy. Regan saw Liam watching and saw hatred in his eyes.

Regan get’s ready for school and she is very tired from lack of sleep. I guess she is so tired because of Liam or ‘Luna’. When she has breakfast Liam is already there with his Advanced Placement Physics book. She notes that Liam is very smart and she is not as smart as her. Regan also notes that Liam is in his ‘Boy Role’ which consists of a sleeved shirt that is pressed and buttoned to his chin, tucked into his khakis. When Regan and Liam’s dad made a remark about girls needing to have their beauty rest. Liam glared at Regan. Regan thinking it’s just a joke and Liam doesn’t need to be so sensitive to those subjects.

In a flashback from Regan's point of view, Regan and her brother Liam play in their ‘house’ made out of boxes. Liam, also know as Luna, wants to be the mom, but so does Regan. Liam eventually persuades Regan into being the dad because the dad’s get to do cool stuff such as buying a new car. Liam also says just that one time, but Regan knows he is going to want to be the mommy again. Regan watches Liam play with the doll and change the doll’s clothes over and over again. When Regan wakes up from her dream she thinks of how that could have been a first indication that Liam was different. That Liam wanted to be a girl in his head and heart.

So far the character seems really caring about her brother becoming a girl, but she doesn't really approve of it. I wouldn't know what to do if one of my brothers decided to become a girl. I guess I would be horrified but I would still love him just like the narrator, Regan does. The character seems like a really strong person because she could get picked on by her peers because of her brother's situation. I wouldn't be as strong as her and wouldn't want to come to school. I would like to know why Regan's brother wanted to become a girl. I think it's because she didn't feel comfortable in her own skin. As I keep reading I am sure I will find out why she changed her gender.

I got this book because the description of the book seems very different and interesting. That is the only way I can read a book if it is fascinating or I can't finish a book. I really don't know much about the author so I don't know what type of writing skills she has but it looks good. So far the book describes how a girl named Regan has a sister but was born a boy. Regan still loves her brother Liam or also know as Luna, but still believes he should still be a boy. Liam picked the name Luna because you can only be seen in the moonlight. Liam is a boy during the day and Luna is a girl during the night. I am going to keep on reading this book because I like how it is different from any other book.
