- Beatrice (Bertie) Shakespeare Smith: Main character. In search of her true identity. Finds out who her parents are and what really brought her to the Theatre Illuminata. A young woman who, like everything else in the Theatre Iluminata, contains a little magic of her own. With her four farie companions never far from her side, she seems to run into trouble at every turn.
- Ariel: The air spirit from Shakespeare's The Tempest
- Nate: A pirate, one of the characters at the Theatre.
- Cobweb, Peaseblossom, Mustardseed, and Moth: The fairies from A Midsummer Night's Dream. Bertie's friends and companions.
- Waschbar: A sneak-thief who Bertie accidentally summons. He only steals "unwanted" things.
- Sedna: The sea goddess
