Sam and his parents are leaving for their tradiational Christmas vacation spot, Thailand. Beth his older sister is staying in New York because she has a swimming competition over the holidays. It starts off as the same beautiful holiday it always is until the morning the water seems to being sucked out further into the ocean. As tourists stand and stare, taking pictures, and collecting articles form the ocean floor, Sam's father notices something out in the water, a wave that is approaching the beach quickly.

Beth wakes up to learn that a Tsunami has hit her family's vacation island. After not being able to reach them by phone she begins the journey to Thailand to find her family, or whoever is left.
