- Vargulf: An Old Norse word combining 'Vargr' or 'rogue' and 'ulf' meaning 'wolf'; literally a "rogue wolf". The term described a particular type of wolf which killed many members of a shepherd's flock, eating little of the kill. Etymologists also belive it is the source for the Modern English word 'Werewolf'.
