“This book is the sequel to Wolfskin. It seems as if this book took forever to read because I did not care much for Wolfskin. I will admit that I enjoyed this book more than Wolfskin because I liked the characters better. Foxmask tells the story of Thorvald and Creidhe, the children of the main characters from Wolfskin.
The beginning of the book is slow and picks up near the last 150 pages. While a sequel this book can be read on its own, though the most touching parts are better understood if Wolfskin has been read.

“Not a book I enjoyed. Marillier's writing was much the same as it had been in her epic Sevenwaters trilogy. It felt like I'd read this kind of story before. The characters I found hard to love; they weren't as lively or as a many as they had been in Wolfskin. These were broken people I couldn't connect to, and a heroine who felt she knew better. The plot of this story, while intriguing in some parts, didn't engage me as Wolfskin had. The ending for Thorvald tore my heart out and overall, I was just disappointed.”
