I don't necessarily know how to describe how it was odd, but it was. I didn't Not like it, but it wasn't fantastic. I think that it would be worth your time to take a couple of hours and read through it, because a few hours is all it takes. perhaps it's the fact that I had to read through it quickly but the book just seems to be superficially simple, but not actually simple. Odd, but good, book.”

It starts out in everyday life where you get to know the characters. then it goes into love and last is death. this is an amazing book and i would recomend it in a second! ”

Set in the small town of Grover's Corners, New Hampshire, the three-act play recounts the common, beautifully everyday lives of the various residents. The general message of the play is to portray the dignity and sweetness of even the most ordinary human lives. Though the play ends with death (indeed, that's the focus of the entire third act), Wilder refrains from becoming sentimental or pathetic about the transient nature of life.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book/play, and would definitely recommend it to anyone as a short, thought-provoking read. It will definitely keep me thinking for some time!
Rated four stars out of five.”
“Wilder's play about a small New Hampshire town and it's life cycle is still a good read.”

I have heard Our Town referred to as an `old chestnut' and I can't possibly disagree more with that characterization. I read it once a year, along with Epictetus and Marcus Aurelius, to clear my mind and set things in proper perspective. ”
