“The Tudors by G.J. Meyer is a very accessible and insightful account of England's Tudor dynasty. I found the author's extensive use of background notes very helpful in giving the reader a clear understanding of the religious, political and social conditions which served as catalysts for the tumultuous events that dramatically changed the course of British history during the 16th century. Meyer writes with the layman in mind but is careful not to over-simplify the complex issues which underlay the bitter power struggle between Church and State and between the Crown and Parliament. ”
