If only more web dev/design books where as beautiful as they are helpful! Clarke does an excellent job of providing a theoretical framework in which you can build your own CSS, and he supports this framework with several creative examples of design and code. Would recommend to anyone who wants...

This book seemed like a brave attempt at something different from page after page of dull code but IMO swings too far in the other direction. Andy Clarke knows his stuff but think content was lacking and the stock phototography stole the show.

Would recommend to anyone who wants to take their semantic markup and CSS to a new level.

Andy Clarke has created a web design volume that is thought-provoking, creative, and inspiring. The author writes in a clear and insightful style.

The major difference from authors of most web design books is in the lack of tutorials. This suggested deficiency is offset by the forced need on the part of the reader to visualize how she or he can implement some of the ideas suggested by Mr. Clarke in her or his own work. This book is NOT for the reader who requires examples of a step-by-step tutorial.

This book is, probably, one of the best I've read about CSS, and design.
The great thing is that it's main idea it's really not about CSS, but about the way we create, and imagine, our web pages.
Andy's great talent for design and a strong knowledge of CSS gives him a unique perspective about the ways CSS can be used for creative purposes.
If you're already familiar with CSS and keep struggling with designs and their markup read this book, it will give you a whole new perspective about the subject.

Good resource for designing -- color pictures of sites, good explanation of writing code for the case studies.

For beginner levels or medium. Nothing too advanced or intimidating.

I really like that each case study was written by a different designer. Definitely gave the book some varying perspective.
