Gone is the carefree criminal master-mind. Artemis Fowl is seriously attempting to save the planet, not to mention "the people" (fairies) and the whole human race before catastrophic global warming becomes irreversible. Unfortunately, he is also suffering from the Atlantis Complex, which causes his to obsess about trivialities, including death, among others. Artemis Fowl is no longer himself, which is problematic when those fighting to save the world are most in need of his expertise.

Many of the usual characters are with Artemis in this seventh book of the AF saga, along with some new villains and victims. Artemis is more responsible than ever, but also more compromised than ever in this book which confronts ecological, social and political issues that confront genius fairies and post-modern human beings. The story is the most complex so far in the AF saga, and this makes it a most stimulating read.

    A sci-fi, a-second-to-act scenarios book.

I really enjoyed this book because of the unexpecting plot twists it had. This is the seventh book in a series and I find that a lot of series will start to repeat plots that they have already done after a few books. I was really happy that Eoin Colfer created a completely new plot. It was fun and exciting and always had your curiosity peaked. I also liked how Colfer had Artimis develop this Atlantis Complex because then he had to deal with inner turmoil as well as the problems that were happening around him.

An amazing fantasy story that never gets old no matter how many times you read it.
