Fifiteen year old Artemis Fowl had arranged a meeting in Vatnajokull, Iceland with Captain Holly Short, Foaly the centaur, and Wing Commander Raine Vinyaya to discuss a project he had been working on for many months. Artemis had put his entire fortune in this project he thought may save the world. Holly, Foaly, and Vinyaya were wondering if good had taken over the world's teenaged criminal mastermind? Artemis seemed obsessed with the number five throughout the meeting and Holly noticed that Artemis was suffering from Atlantis Complex, a psychosis common in guilt ridden fairies, not humans. It causes OCD, paranoia, and personality disorders. Holly thinks his complex was activated from his dabbling in fairy magic. Artemis was showing his friends his plan on a holographic screen from his phone. When he went to show his friends his machine, they were attacked by amorphobots, machines that Foaly had built. They attacked the whole gang. Vinyaya wasn't seen, Foaly was trying to reprogram the probe, Holly was stuck, and Artemis was running toward a falling probe. Artemis thought the probe was a delusion. While Holly was constantly telling him it was really a falling probe with solid metal, he just kept on running. Then she realized that Butler his bodyguard was going to kill her...

In Cancun, Mexico, Butler was squashed in his Fiat 500 rental car. His knees were jammed up under his chin and it was very painful. So Butler decided that he would sit the front seat down and drive in the back seat. With all the late night traffic, Butler decided to walk, for it would be much faster. When Butler got to the arena, he didn't have a ticket, so he went through the back entrance. He realized he didn't have a costume, so he dropped into the dressing room and got a bear costume. He went through various passages his phone was showing him. When he finally got to the ring entrance, he saw his sister, The Jade Princess, wrestling a woman in a blood-red leotard. The crowd was cheering "Samsonetta", and Butler thought it suited her, so he sat down and watched silently. In the first round, Juliet took Samsonetta down. During the second round, Butler's nerves were tested. Samsonetta pounced on Juliet like a cat on a mouse. Her choking act went a little too seriously, so Juliet took action immediately. She got up and threw Samsonetta down. She whipped her ponytail and hit Samsonetta with the jade ring in her hair that matched her skin-tight jade sparkle leotard and mask. They never got to the third round because a fairy face popped up on the big screen. He mesmerized all the wrestling fans and told them to kill the Butlers. Juliet was temporarily mesmerized but snapped out of it quickly. Butler lifted his little sister up onto the rafters. He then was attacked by a few thousand wrestling fans and they were piling on top of him. Butler was being drown by wrestling fans, waving goodbye to his sister underneath them. Juliet ran towards the big screen, trying not to listen or look at it. People got up on the other side of the rafters and started at Juliet. Juliet whipped her Jade Ring at everyone in her path. She finally unplugged the screen and everyone returned their normal selves, NOT their normal positions. Everyone was confused. People were gnawing on other people, a baby had gotten out of its mother's grasp, and people were up on the rafters! Everyone went home except the Butlers. They went outside to talk...

Artemis just kept on running toward the falling probe. He was shouting at it for quite some time when his paranoia acted up and he was shouting at Holly about planning this and that and his bodyguard Butler. Finally, Artemis was about to be crushed by the giant probe, so Holly got out a pistol and shot Artemis. His body flew across the air like the wind was lifting him up.Holly would of gone herself... if her legs weren't injured very badly. Holly fell asleep and woke up a few minutes later and was being dragged by Foaly. Amorphobots came out of the probe and were sucking everything up. They went to check on Artemis next. Holly asked Artemis if he was O.K. He started talking to her, but not like usual. He was talking like there was a him... Everyone but him was confused. He then stated that when Holly shot him with her pistol, Artemis was put inside his own brain, and he, known as Orion, came out of Artemis' brain. So every one was... kind of up to speed, but kind of not up to speed. So Holly, Foaly, and this Orion guy got into the probe's escape shuttle and flew off.

Down in Atlantean Jail/Police Plaza, in a jail cell, there was a prisoner named Turnball Root. He was an at ease man. He had tricked a security guard, named Mr.Vishby, and he one day, enslaved him by pricking him with a spark he had gotten miraculously by doing a little something from an old pixie had told him that he could get a spark out of it. Mr. Vishby came down one day to cuff Turnball and put him in a probe to move the prisoners to a shuttle because a sinking probe was falling toward Atlantis' glass dome, protecting Atlantis. Root's trick was he wasn't cuffed, so when he was on the probe, he gathered up a gang of Bobb Ragby, Unix and a couple other dwarfs and swam to another probe that was waiting in the water. They flew off to Venice, Italy, where Leonor(Turnball's wife) was waiting

In Miami, Florida, there was a bar called The Sozzled Parrot. It was a little pub that was owned by dwarfs. The owner one day got a piece of mail that said to attack the Butlers. So that's exactly what they did...after a little persuasion from the owner. They flew over to Cancun, Mexico. When they got there, they saw the Butlers sitting down. That was the perfect time to ambush. They lost. Butler the "Mountain Man" beat them down out of the air. They were all laying on the ground so Butler took there shuttle and flew to find Artemis, who he had sprayed tracking spray on his shoes. A dwarf, named Mulch Diggums, had hitched a ride because he found good inside himself(or he didn't want to get beat up by Butler..!)

Orion was driving Holly crazy. He was love sick over her. He was all goo-goo eyed. So Holly told him to shut up... and he did. For a few minutes. Then back to goo-goo Orion. A couple hours later Holly shot Orion and he returned to Artemis. When Butler got there, Artemis apologized and Holly explained Artemis was suffering from Atlantis Complex and sent him Butler away because he was sick. When all was forgiven, Holly picked up a probe a few miles ahead. She followed the readings and followed them all the way to Venice, Italy to Turnball's house. Turnball enslaved Holly and Artemis with his pricks. Foaly, Mulch and the Butlers were inside amorphobot gel. Mulch was competing with Bobb in a farting contest.Mulch won and his gel-trap exploded. He freed everyone else
and they went to go get N1(a powerful sorcerer.) Turnball had beaten them he told Holly to go get N1 and he told "Artemis" to attack them. When Turnball pricked Artemis, it was an electrocution like when Holly shot him, so Orion came back. He started talking about cruelty and Turnball was confused. Finally, Turnball saw Leonor and she looked furious. So she and Turnball flew off. Holly shot Artemis and they flew off with N1 before the place blew up.
