I haven't read any cyberpunk in a while, but this is really good. Now she's going to learn to pilot a starship, can't get much better than that!

Decent read. Started off as a hardboiled detective and changed to a Cory Doctorowesque cyberspace tale. Fun read, but certainly not the greatest ever.

Good classic scifi- a little disjointed in places, but enjoyable.

While the dystopian future depicted in the story is a bit worn in the genre, Bear does use it to good effect, creating just the sort of backdrop necessary for her kick ass heroine Jenny Casey. I am looking forward to reading the sequel.

I had a good-time reading this cyberpunk story and the new race to the stars. Good characters and action. It was a bit more open-ended than I'd have liked, but I'll probably pick up the next book in the series in the not-too distant future.

Lately I've been really enjoying Elizabeth Bear. I read _Hammered_, and loved it. I ripped through _Scardown_ and am now on _WorldWired_. She writes with a gritty realism and a lack of assumptions about race, gender, orientation, etc that is refreshing, while her books manage to be good stories as well as good science. This, so far, was the best of the trilogy, but only because I really loved her dystopian, earth-based story, it reminded me of William Gibson - when he's good. The others are good but more like normal SF.
