“I can't tell you how disappointed I'd be if I didn't have the third book lined up to read right away with that cliffhanger ending!!!! I have a feeling this series will not go as I originally hoped but I'm still loving it and can't put it down. ”Mrs. Heres wrote this review Thursday, March 21, 2013. Quick & Dirty: Great fantasy book filled with action and a cute romance.
Opening Sentence: I clung to the leather seat and felt my heart fall as the private plane rose into the sky, streaking away from India.
Kelsey broke the first part of the curse, but now she wants to go back home and try to live normally for a little while. Unfortunately, Kelsey left her heart back in India. She fell head over heels in love with Ren, but she was scared to start a relationship with him so she left. She can’t stop thinking about him but she feels that it is time to try to move on. After a few months of dating other boys and missing Ren more than ever he finally shows up at her door. Kelsey decides that it is time to give Ren a chance, she is in love with him after all. They have a few great months together living a normal life, but they aren’t normal people so it doesn’t last long. Lokesh, the Prince and sworn enemy is looking for Kelsey and eventually he finds her. While trying to protect her Ren ends up getting captured, and Kelsey will stop at nothing to try and rescue him.
They don’t know where Ren is or how to find him. Their only clue is to try to break another part of the curse. Kelsey returns to India and goes on a quest with Ren’s younger brother Kishan. Kishan is a sweet, yet more dangerous version of Ren. Kelsey’s heart truly belongs to Ren, but Kishan keeps trying to leave a mark of his own and Kelsey has a hard time resisting. Kelsey also has discovered a new power and she has to learn how to control it if they are going to be successful in retrieving another one of the four gifts. Will they be successful and will they be able to save Ren before it’s too late?
I really enjoyed Kelsey’s character in this book. She grew so much from the first one. She goes from being a damsel in distress type to a girl to one that can really hold her own. She also really opens up to the possibility of love, and you start to see some of her walls come down. Her self confidence grows and she really becomes a great heroine that I really connected well with. I love when characters mature and change for the better in a series and I felt that Houck did a great job making Kelsey a much more likable character.
You don’t get to see very much of Ren in this book, but the parts you do get just make you fall more in love with him. He is so devoted to Kelsey and I think that the things he does for her are so cute. He still has a temper and a jealous streak especially when it comes to his brother. But he has total confidence that he loves Kelsey and that she loves him back, he just has to work to get her to realize it. I missed seeing Ren but I know that we will get a lot more of him in the next book and I am excited for that.
Kishan was introduced in the first book, but he was a very minor character. We get to know him so much better in this book, and I totally loved him. He is undeniably gorgeous and he has that bad boy vibe going on. He knows that Kelsey is with Ren, but he really has a thing for her as well. He is very open about how he feels, and he goes after what he wants. He is similar to Ren in a lot of ways but he is more daring and unpredictable. I love getting to know him, but it breaks my heart to see him blame himself for what has happened in the past. I don’t envy Kelsey having to choose between two amazing boys, but I always love a good love triangle.
This was a great second book to the series. It was really fast paced with good action and great character development. I am really enjoying the plot and I am excited to see where the story goes. Houck’s writing is very descriptive and entertaining. I can’t wait to begin book 3 and see what happens. I would highly recommend this book to anyone that enjoys good fantasy.
Annoyed, I said, “What are you laughing at, Mister?”
He took both of my hands in his and looked in my eyes. “Nothing at all, Kelsey. You are the most enchanting creature I’ve ever seen in my life.”
“Oh. Thanks. But why did you laugh?”
“I laughed because I’m the lucky one who gets to see you like this, to be with you in this paradise while Ren had to be chased by monkeys and fight needle trees. Obviously, I got the better quest.”

“ If you liked the first one you'll love the second book in the Tiger's Curse Series!
The magic and adventure continues to grow in this next installment as the two brothers and Kelsey face an old foe that proves to be even more dangerous than the monsters they will encounter.
Even better than the first Tiger's Quest gives tiger fans a look at another special tiger by the name of Kishan. We had a glimpse of this mysterious character in Tiger's Curse, but after reading Quest many tiger fans may have a new favorite tiger. Just as sweet and endearing as his brother Kishan has a charm all his own that will make fans such as myself swoon, but don't take my word for it find out for yourself in the next book in Colleen's exciting tiger series!
Kelsey was able to grow a lot as a character as well and we got to see a different side of her. She really was a strong and kind woman and we got to see just how strong she could be when she is faced with one of the most difficult situations of her life. Her love for Ren and her will to go on will be tested to the limit in this next installment.
Their journey to break the Tiger's Curse has just become even more dangerous and every ounce of courage they possess will be tested in the Tiger's Quest! ”

“This book got off to a rocky start, pretty much focusing on Kelsey's social life and the angst and drama over Ren, which made it really difficult to read. It changed a lot for the better when Kishan showed up; things finally got interesting and I was able to like the characters again. Still probably going to continue reading the series - mostly because of Kishan. It had a lot of problems at the beginning, but a lot of redeeming qualities too. ”blackandwhitedreamer wrote this review Sunday, January 6, 2013. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful?
