Two Indian princes, Dhiren and Kishan, were betrayed and cursed to live as tigers. Kelsey, an Oregon teenager, inadvertently helps free Dhiren the tiger from the circus where she works and accompanies him home to India, where he turns into a man and explains the curse. He asks for her help. Mr Kadam is the Indian caregiver or the tigers and has been granted long life since he wears part of the Damon amulet the greedy raja, Lokesh, was trying to get from the princes when he cursed them. He helps them figure out how to try and break the curse.
They ask for help from Kishan, Ren's brother and he refuses to join their expedition, but does give Kelsey his part of the amulet.
The adventure plays out from there in an Indiana Jones type of excursion where Ren (Dhiren) and Kelsey start to fall in love and try to break the 1st part of the curse.
The Goddess Durga aids them on their quest and gives them special weapons/tools to use when they ask her blessing in her temple.
They end up in Kishkinda, the monkey kingdom, in search of the Golden Fruit, which has magical powers. As they continue to fall in love, Kelsey withdraws, feeling she will just end up getting hurt in the end since she feels unworthy of Ren's attentions.
