I seriously hope Sookie and Eric are together in this book, and stay that way! Ever since Dead to the World I've been hoping for that!

I can't wait for this book to come out. I just hope sookie and eric stay together. It seems like everytime she becomes involved with a guy that they breakup. I just hope that does not happen with eric because they have such a history and I JUST DON'T WANT THEM TO BREAK UP!

I didn't think enough happened. Sookie and Eric's relationship didn't really grow that much and I wished we could have seen more of other characters. Not enough romance!

I think they did grow more in this book. She really trusts him now - where in the past there was more doubt. She's even considered becoming a vampire even though she knows that would ultimately destroy them.

I think this book sucked. Another historical figure? Too many new characters. New info about vampire hierarchy that feels like BS. Aargh Charlaine!!

Read some stories on FanFiction.net that were far better than this book. Isn't it sad?

I found this one was boring it seemed more like the begining of a book and I was left wanting the middle and the end. Hardly anything happened and nothing really went on between sookie and Eric aside from a BJ (very boring) 8(

There was sex, but Sookie wasn't into it because she was healing from her injuries. I think because they are a couple things become more routine and private.

Hey Josephine!!! I totally agree with you! This book completely sucked. And what about the vamps that vincent sent to kill Pam and Sookie?? What happened with that??? No one noticed two of Vincent's goons were missng? And Eric didnt raise any hell about the attempt on his wife's and his 2nd in command's lives??? Serisouly...this book was just a bunch of random ramblings!!!

I thought this book was absolutley HORRIBLE! I skimmed probably 30 pages and had to force myself to read it. What happened to our arrogant, sexy, witty Eric? And Sookie...well, she didnt nothing in this book. Just worked, baby sat and bbq'd with family! REALLY??? We waited a year for this crap? And the Plot...WHAT PLOT? There was no point to this book. I am deeply disappointed. THANK GOD I saved Lover Mine to read AFTER this terrible, boring book.

LOL, I completly agree! I swear she must have run out of things to write about and just decided to put this out to make $$$. I really loved this series and I seriously hope she doesn't continue the series like this cause it will be truely dissapointing 8(

I liked the first few chapters of this book. The rest... not so much. It was... slow, and i could guess what happened next. I agree with Team Vampire when she asks "Where is the arrogant, sexy, witty Eric?!" I miss him, that Eric is what i wanted to get with Sookie. The fairy stuff... come on, solve all the problems with a kiss? Are you kidding me? That was sooo stupid. And the chapter that mentioned Jace Everetts song Bad things... wonder how much she got paid to write that.

I was so disappointed with this book. The series started out so strong, with so many great characters and plot twists. This last book seemed like all filler. Where was the action? Where was the passion? Where was ANYTHING? She spent so much time on Claude living with Sookie, making the reader expect this big climax of is he bad or is he good, and it was over in half a page. And she's been talking about the Jason look-a-like fairy for a few books now, and all of a sudden that's over too. And way too much babysitting. I felt like I was reading Twilight... all build-up and let-down. I sure hope she comes up with a better story for the next one.

I really like this book for the fact that it furthers the story, but I agree with most of you that there was not enough action and development of Sookie and Eric's relationship. I read this with the impression that DITF was going to be the last of the Southern Vampire books, but since there are more to come, I will continue reading!

I agree, I skimmed through a few pages of this book as well. There was something almost forced about this book that I didn't like, it seemed like a book put out just to add some more information but she really could have just added this information into her final book if her next one will be her final. I will still be exicted about the next book and will continue reading on!!!

I think the point of this book was to show how the world works for vamps. Everyone is complaining because Eric was not "Eric." He wasn't able to be. His maker was present therefore he had to do HIS bidding, no matter what Eric wanted to do. There were points where Eric shined through, but in all what could he do? I liked that there was more of him period in the book, because it seems we can never get enough of his cocky attitude and demeanor. Also, I disagree with everyone on Alexei, I thought it was a nice quirk to throw him in. He only lasted the one book so it wasn't like he would occlude the story throughout the series. If I have one complaint about the book at all is the abrupt ending.

Oh I agree ]_[ It was really annoying not to see more 'Eric-ness' in the book! Thats the very best part in every Southern Vampire Mysteries book^^

What is Charliane doing? I think she is turning a fun, exciting series into a slow moving...gotta put another book out...no action-filled...don't know what else to say. My husband and I both read this book and we were really disappointed. The ending was so silly with just a fairy kiss to solve all....Eric was too emotional...Sookie was harmless and now struggling with inner feelings of religion, salvation, werewolf culture, vampire lifestyles, and deep inner woes....and I didn't read enough about Jason who is always in a predicament. She left too many questions unanswered? I hope she can either turn her next book into something relevent and worth writing or just end the series.

I'm curious. Who would like to see Sookie turn into a vampire to stay with Eric? Does anyone watch the True Blood Series on HBO? I am a real fan and feel the director is a doing better job with the story line than C.H. at this point!

This book is Not what I have been waiting and looking forward to read. The story is to slow, the ending is just so corny. I think Sookie just lost her character and so did Eric. Eric just became so lame and distracted... Please.. Please return to the excitement of the previous series...

Harris proves us once again that she is a talented, history-interested author, who's got the ambition of bringing us new characters in every book, this time , her historical character came from Russia. The ending showed us that Sookie was tired, more like destroyed, after experiencing such intense and profound emotions.Charlaine Harris wanted to show us that her books can be different, putting Sookie and Eric's couple relationship in the first place, and than completing with the action and mystery we were used to.
Also, the fact that Charlaine changed the type of story a bit, well this was because she is going to finish the series in 2014.Until than, she maybe wants us to be "prepared" for the final book of this amazing series.

It was a transition book. For a long running series not every book can be action packed and full of insanity. There was alot of moving the overall story along. Not a bad book, not a great book but it served a purpose

I'm pretty sure there's going to be another one because this one still ended openly. I saw an interview with Charlaine Harris that said she already has a specific ending for Sookie when she was talking about her new book and she didn't mention it being in this book so I can say yes :)

There will be a book 12 it should be out May 2011 and book 13 should be out May 2012. I went to a sighing and got to listen to Ms. Harris speak and spoke to her for a minute. She is contracted through book 13 right now. She isn't sure how many there will be total, but for now it's at 13. She releases one Sookie book a year in May. Also there is a companion book coming out January or February 2011 which will include the novella that started the whole series.

If you want more information she has a pretty good website and a message board.
