This is actually a good summary of research in psychology and biology over the past 50 years that shows how genes, non-genetic inherited material, prenatal environment, postnatal environment, and behavioral interaction with the environment interact to produce unique skill sets. Don't let the program fool you; the book is a good dispassionate look at very interesting research from a range of disciplines. No, it doesn't show that anybody can be a genius, but it does show what kind of environment and behavior can promote the development of extraordinary skills. And it is written to be a good link to the original research literature. Shenk has good judgment in finding interesting research.
