The book is somewhat scary at the same time you see the main character Alexis start to show some feelings for a kid named Carter, after the fact that he took her down swinging by a door open, nearly giving her a concussion. Alexis' little sister Kasey is getting weirder everyday. It got to the point where Kasey is starting to go crazy, but Alexis thinks it might be herself going crazy. They start to realize weird things about their old house & its history, like how Alexis took a picture of something glowing in the tree at night, or when she was telling her sister a story but the words just kept coming out like she wasn't even the one saying it.
