Adopted by the Alpha of a werewolf pack after a rogue wolf brutally killed her parents right before her eyes, fifteen-year-old Bryn knows only pack life, and the rigid social hierarchy that controls it. That doesn't mean that she's averse to breaking a rule or two.

But when her curiosity gets the better of her and she discovers Chase, a new teen locked in a cage in her guardian's basement, and witnesses him turn into a wolf before her eyes, the horrific memories of her parents' murders return. Bryn becomes obsessed with getting her questions answered, and Chase is the only one who can provide the information she needs.

But in her drive to find the truth, will Bryn push too far beyond the constraints of the pack, forcing her to leave behind her friends, her family, and the identity that she's shaped?

Characters edit see section history

  • Bronwyn (Bryn) Alessia St. Vincent Clare: Heroine of the story. 15 Years Old. Her family was attacked by a Rabid (a lone werewolf). She was later found by Callum, the Alpha of the Stone River Pack, shortly after the attack. She was then Marked by the Alpha at 4 years old and made one of the pack. She is known for her stubbornness and inability to follow the rules. She is a trained fighter and skilled with blades/knives.
  • Chase: 16 Years Old. Was bitten by a Rabid Were, which in turn, turned him into a Werewolf as well. He was discovered by Bryn in Callum's basement. He develops a very intense connection with Bryn and is fiercely protective of her. He is Marked into Stone River shortly after he was found after his attack. He develops rapidly and becomes a formidable wolf shortly after his Change. He is an orphan and was in and out of foster care prior to being bitten. In wolf form, he is black with ice blue eyes. Chase is originally from Kansas.
  • Callum: 1000 Year Old Werewolf, but has not aged past 30. He is the Alpha of the Stone River Pack. The strongest Werewolf amongst all Alpha's within the North American continent. He adopted Bryn when she was 4 years old when her family was attacked and killed by a lone Werewolf (a Rabid). He has much love for Bryn, but does not show it openly. Callum is very calm and collected, but exudes great power and dominance. In wolf form, Callum is gray with tawny tips.
  • Ali (Alison) Clare: 31 years old. Was inducted into Stone River at 21. She is the adoptive mother of Bryn and has raised her since she was first Marked into the pack. Pregnant.
  • Devon Macalister: Tells thathe is Bryn's best frien.
  • Lake: 15 Years Old. She is one of the only female Werewolves that have been born in Callum's Pack in the last 100 years. She is Bryn's other best friend, but does not live in Ark Valley with the rest of the pack, due to the fact that the older she got, the more the male Were's would want her to be their Mate. She lives on the outskirts of Stone River territory in Montana. She lives with her father, Mitch. Lake is an exceptional runner and an expert shooter. She is known to be very blunt and to the point.
  • Wilson/Prancer: A Rabid who lurks through the territories owned by Stone Creek and Snake Bend Pack. He smells of burnt hair and men's colone.
  • Kaitlin: Nickname Kate when in a bad mood. Nickname Katie when puppy. One of the twins that Ali gives birth to; one of the only female Were to be born in hundreds of years. Twin is Alex.
  • Casey: Ali's husband; devoted Were in Stone River Pack
  • Marcus: A tempermental Were who despises Bryn because she is human
  • Sora Macalister: Devon's mother; one of the 3 female Were in Stone Creek
  • Mitch: Lake's father. Owner of The Wayfarer inn, in Montana.
  • Keely: A human bartender at the Wayfarer, employeed by Mitch. Has a knack for getting people to talk. She smells of Walmart soap and evergreen trees.
  • Alexander: Ali's other child; twin brother to Katilin.
  • Lance Macalister: Werewolf, Devon's father, doesn't talk much.
  • Shay: Devon's brother; Alpha of Snake Bend Pack, and another rare purebred Were.

Her favourite colours are orange and blue. She loved Mac & Cheese and popping bubble wrap. She lived in Nevada, the Desert Night Pack (who smell like sandstone and fish to other packs) territory.
  • Tom: Tom is the wolf Bryn and Lake meet in the Wayfarer Restaurant. He is one of Shay's Peripherals.

  • Sometimes, I thought that parents—even human ones—were the exact same way. Your behavior reflects upon them. They want the best for you, because you’re theirs. Things that are okay for other people’s kids are out of the question for you, and no matter how old you grow, or how far you run, you can’t change where you came from.
