• Aiden Riordan: An OB-Gyn who is separating from the US Navy after 14 years of service. He's taking time off in Virgin River until his sister-in-law Shelby delivers her first baby.
• Erin Foley: A tax and estate law attorney, she is the sister of Marcie who came to Virgin River two years ago and met and married Ian Buchanan. She remodeled Ian's old cabin and is taking some R&R. She raised Marcie and her brother Drew following the deaths of their parents, putting them through school and Marcie's marriage to Ian.
• Annalee Riordan: Aiden's first wife who was a bit of a psycho
• Luke Riordan: Aiden's brother, Luke is married to Shelby and they are expecting their first child. He owns cabins along the Virgin River and manages them for rentals.
• Shelby (McIntyre) Riordan: Luke's wife, she's very pregnant with their first child. She's the niece of Walt Booth and cousin of Vanni and Tom. She's also studying nursing at Humboldt University.
• Jack Sheridan: Owner of the bar in town, he's a former Marine and is married to Mel. He's the father of David and Emma.
• Mel Sheridan: Jack's wife and the town nurse and midwife. Mother of David and Emma.
• David and Emma Sheridan: Jack and Mel's children
• Jeff: Aiden's best friend, fraternity brother and best man at his first wedding.
• Marcie Buchanan: Erin's sister, married to Ian and is pregnant with her first child.
• Ian Buchanan: Marcie's husband
• George Davenport: Retired professor and Presbyterian minister from Seattle. He and Maureen are in the middle of a romance, taking off in an RV to travel the country. He's Noah's best friend and mentor.
• Maureen Riordan: Aiden's mother who is dating George Davenport. She's taking off with him in his RV to travel the country.
• Sean Riordan: Aiden's brother, he recently discovered he has a little girl, Rosie, now four years old. He's now married to Franci and is deploying to Iraq.
• Franci Riordan: Married to Sean Riordan, mother of Rosie. She's a flight nurse and teaches two courses at Humboldt University.
• Rosie: Sean's and Franci's four year olddaughter
• John Stone: Doctor in Gace Valley who supports Mel on occasion
• Darla Prentiss: Married to Phil, she's been in the care of a fertility specialist and just suffered her 7th miscarriage.
• Phil Prentiss: A dairy and pork farmer, he is married to Darla and they are trying to get pregnant with poor results.
• Drew Foley: Erin's brother who has completed medical school and is in orthopedic residency, living with his fiancé.
• Ellen: Netta's caretaker. She and her husband, Bo, are responsible for several special needs adults in their home.
• Marley: Young pregnant woman who is considering putting her baby up for adoption.
• Ron Preston: An attorney in Erin's firm.
• Jake: Marley's boyfriend and father of her baby.
• Bobby Sullivan: Marcie's deceased first husband
• Paul Haggerty: Vanni's husband who is a building contractor. He's part of a family-owned business that s based in Grants Pass, Oregon. He convinced his family to let him open an office in Virgin River and handles most of the construction projects in the area. He and Vanni are in the process of adopting Hannah, the baby of his deceased former girlfriend who named him as guardian in his will. He and Vanni also have another toddler, Matt, whose father died in Iraq and was Paul's best friend.
• Patrick "Paddy" Riordan: The youngest of the Riordan brothers and his deceased father's namesake.
• Netta: Young woman who was in the same group home as Art and was his girlfriend.
• Art Cleary: 30-year old man with Down syndrome who stays in one of Luke's cabins and works for him. Luke found him when he was homeless and took him in and cares for him.
• Noah Kincaid: Young Presbyterian minister who recently bought the town church and started a ministry. He's married to Ellie and they are renovating their home. George Davenport is his best friend and mentor; George thinks of him as a son.
• Brie Valenzuela: Jack's sister who is married to Mike, the town constable, and mother of Ness. She is a practicing attorney and is a consultant to the county prosecutor, she being a former Sacramento assistant DA.
• Cameron Michaels: Town doctor and pediatrician who is married to Abby. They ave a set of twins, Justin and Juliet, and live in Jack and Mel's old cabin.
