“Hired to find a boy gene missing in Doraville, North Carolina, Harper Connelly and her brother Tolliver head there-only to discover that the boy was only one of several who had disappeared over the previous five years. All of them teenagers. All unlikely runaways. All calling for Harper. Harper soon finds them-eight victims, buried in the half-frozen ground, all come to an unspeakable end. Afterwards, what she most wants to do is collect her fee and get out of town ahead of the media storm that's soon to descend. But when she's attacked and prevented from leaving, she reluctantly becomes a part of the investigation as she learns more than she cares to about the dark mysteries and long-hidden secrets of Doraville-knowledge that makes her the next person likely to rest in an ice-cold grave.

“Book 3 in the series is another wiinner. Fast paced with interesting charactors. This book I found to be especially disturbing while not being graphic at all, just implied. PS. you should read books 1 & 2 befor attempting this one, there are some essential plot developements in the third book that the first two books set you up for. Everyone in my family right now is taking turns in reading this series and having a good time at it.”

“Very suspenseful. I like this series more and more as it goes along. I am very curious about what will happen with Tolliver, Harper, and Manfred now that their relationships have changed so dramatically. ”

“pretty good so far. I've read the other 2 harper connelly series and i'm hooked;about a young woman who was hit by lightning as a teen and can now find dead bodies and tell what they died of”

In the third book of the Harper Connelly series, Harper and Tolliver travel to North Carolina, where they discover a small town is being plagued by a serial killer. 8 adolescent boys have been tortured and buried outside of town, and immediately after finding the bodies, Harper is attacked. Along with helping the police solve the murders (outside of her job description, but still...), Harper and Tolliver's relationship to each other takes a drastic turn in a new direction.
I really enjoy these books - I read three and four back to back this afternoon. The situation with the boys and what one youngster does in the story to help them is a bit disturbing, so DO NOT read if you are extremely sensitive.

“This series is consistently good. I was glad to see Harper get her emotional "reward" here for all of what life dumped on her. ”
