• Marta (Mama): Strong character who ruins the relationship with her daughter for all the right reasons. Marta is from Switzerland, very intelligent, but suffered abuse at the hands of her Father. She left home at 16 and made her own way dreaming of someday owning her own hotel.
• Hildemara Rose (Hildie; Flo): Niclas and Marta's first daughter and second born. Hildie was small at birth and struggled to take her first breath; Marta was scared that she would grow up weak.
• Niclas (Papa): Marta's husband. Niclas is God loving man; a farmer and forbears Marta's strong nature.
• Bernhardt (Bernie): Niclas and Marta's first born and only son.
• Clotilde (Cloe): #3 in birth order to Niclas and Marta. Cloe is a seamstress and clothes designer.
