The author of the runaway "New York Times" bestseller "The Notebook" pens a tale of self-discovery, renewal, and the courage it takes to love again. Honestly, not my favorite book. It was kind of slow getting started and I didn't appreciate the descriptive love scenes. Pick something else if you have time to read...

After previously reading numerous Nicholas Sparks' books, I had no choice but to pick this one up. Normally, when I pick up novels by Spraks, I am so attracted to his writing and I hang on every final word, hoping nothing will distract me from putting it down. However, with Message in a Bottle I found that I have an even harder time picking it up. The slow beginning starts with Theresa, a writer for a newspaper, finding a message in a bottle. She reads this tear-jerking message and wants to soon find the famous "Garret" whom the letter was signed by. I believe my biggest problem with the book was, not only that I was only a young adult, I couldn't connect myself to any of the characters or even connect people I knew to the characters. I will continue to read this book but it won't be something that I turn my school-reading down for.
