“I knew that if I stuck through this series It would continue to strive and be better book by book, and I was right. Faythe has grown in oh so many ways and it's so so clear in this, the next to the last book of the series. Faythe has some serious issues and has made some awful messes, but when a...”see full review » see other reviews »
“This book picks up right where the last one left off. I really like the world that Rachel Vincent has built in this series. The characters are well developed and I personally enjoy reading about them. Faythe is a strong willed, never give up kinda girl. I like that she isn't afraid to speak her mind, even if she knows nobody is going to like what she says. I like Marc, but sometimes he frustrates me. There are times when he seems blind to what is going on around him, which contradicts his position as an enforcer. I don't particularly care for the love triangle that seems to be developing with Faythe. Sometimes triangles don't bug me, but it depends how they are used. This one is just annoying to me. Why does she all of a sudden have to develop feelings for someone else.. (or at least it seems sudden to me). The main storyline of the book involving the thunderbirds is interesting and compelling. I found myself staying up late just so I could read more of the book. There are plenty of unexpected twisted in this book that left me saying "Oh my!" and left me wanting to finish to find out how it ends. And as I got closer to the end of the book the more frustrated with it i got. I understand that you have to have tension in a book in order to keep people coming back, but the Faythe and Marc constant back and forth is starting to get really annoying. As much as the triangle annoys me, the story is well written and pulled me in. I'm looking forward to picking up the next book and figuring out what happens next.”Kristen wrote this review Tuesday, July 30, 2013. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? Yes | No
“Shift was just as heart racing and climactic as the other Shifters novels. The story and characters were as interesting as always and as usual I had a hard time putting the book down. Faythe is a character I’d love to read about again and again. She’s a fighter with more guts than both Katniss Everdeen and Maximum Ride. Even when she’s fighting Thunderbirds (a great addition to the Shifter world), Faythe faces her obstacles with bones of steel. Shift left me eager to read Alpha, the final installment.”Jess D wrote this review Tuesday, November 20, 2012. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? Yes | No
“I had some trouble with this book, personally, even though it's an amazing book.
In this book, Faythe and the Pride are forced to face off against an ancient enemy race, the Thunderbirds. They are put in a position where they face life and death, and the heart wrenching grief of their losses hits you right in the chest.
SPOILER FROM THE LAST BOOK
The problem I had with this book actually started with something that happened in the last book, and that's where Faythe ends up sleeping with Jace right after her brother's death. Marc is missing, her brother just died, and she and Jace both get a little drunk, and fall into a passion that neither knew was there.
The problem I have with this is that I'm not a fan of cheating in books or movies with characters that I love. I also am not a fan of poly-amorous relationships in my books or movies, and I tend to stay away from them. So when I saw that in the last book, I was a little taken aback, because I was so in love with Faythe as a character, and that kind of made me hate her a little.
But in this book, it's really hard to see her live with this choice, and the fact that she hasn't told Marc about it, because with all that's going on, and all that's happened, there hasn't been a right time. She's horribly worried about what's going to happen with Marc and Jace, and herself, and she doesn't know how she's going to pick.
END OF SPOILER
The dynamic of this book is just great. There's so much emotion in it, from the losses the pride suffers, to the race against time to save one of their members. This book is an emotional roller coaster, and if you have not read this series, do yourself a favor and go pick it up! This book is definitely awesome, and will not let you down. ”

“Also reviewed on my blog, The Vintage Bookworm. (www.vintagebookworm.blogspot.com)
Wow, I never get enough of this series. I've been flying through this series and now I only have one more book to read. Which makes me extremely sad. I tried to read this one slow so I could try and preserve some of it, but it didn't work out too well.
The usual craziness happens in this book, if you've read the series you'll understand what I'm talking about. Faythe and her Pride just never get a break. As soon as some sort of calmness sets in, something happens to blow that all up. But Faythe pulls through it. She still tries to keep a positive mind when all of this craziness is going on.
She has so many problems going on; with her Pride and her heart. There is a little bit of a love triangle going on, okay a big triangle and it's bad because not only is her head screwed up because of it, but mine was too! I love Marc, but I really like Jace as well. I wish Jace could find someone that is his true love.
Not going to go into anymore of that. There is a new species that is talked about throughout the beginning of the series, but never really show up until now and they are scary! Intriguing, but very scary.
Overall, I don't want to write much to giveaway any spoilers. It's very hard not to. So I'm just going to leave you saying that it was amazing, as always. I can't get enough of this series and I highly recommend it. Great characters, great plots, and great romance. =) And it's definitely not sugarcoated. =)
Note & Warning: This is an Adult series. There are some scenes in this book that may not be suitable for those under the age of 16. ”
“This book just goes to show ya.....When you do something stupid it always comes back to bite ya in the a$$!!!!!!!! Faythe, her weak moment with Jace and with Lance, his inability to do the right thing and accept the consequences of his actions.
I really hope someone puts Malone in his place quick cause this guy is getting WAY outta hand!!!”
“Faythe is the first female enforcer and has a lot to live up to. She's learning more and more about what her responsibilities are to her Pride. There is a war coming and they all have to learn to deal with the loss of loved ones.”Diane G wrote this review Saturday, December 3, 2011. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? Yes | No
“I'm impressed with the way Ms.Vincent sets up increasingly complicated situations that test pride/familial/love loyalties, pitting the characters against each other in escalating situations that leave me short of breath-”Clisson wrote this review Thursday, November 17, 2011.
