Take one dad with a lifetime of stories, add a daughter who wrote them down, and you have Dusty Boots: My Dakota Cowboy Dad. Orman O. Willey survived a rattlesnake bite as a boy, broke wild horses as a teen cowboy, and enlisted in the Civilian Conservation Corps to pay his own way at "Aggie" high school. After college he taught in a one-room school until joining the U.S. Army in 1941 to train troops and build roads during World War II. He spent one furlough "plowing gumbo" in northwestern South Dakota to marry Emma Ruby but had to return to Europe and did not see his bride again for over two years. Through one man's life journey, Dusty Boots takes you from the Depression to a new century.
