A tale of suffering, tragedy, and sorrow redeemed by indomitable resolve and a stubborn refusal to despair, it's set in a Sudan shadowed by unrelenting war and ruthless violence, yet illuminated by faith, generosity, and steadfast commitment to the human spirit's finest instincts. Enthralling and more moving than the film. It's a true story of grace.

John is one of the Lost Boys Of Sudan. He takes us on a journey from his several years wondering Africa to the United States, then finding his family who he thought was long dead and they thought the same about him. A very heart wrenching tale.

I was completely shamed by this book. At the beginning of 2007 I went through a very tough time in my life. I have NOTHING to complain about. This was a real eye opener to what a human can endure and still have such a sweet and gentle nature. I will take this book with me for the rest of my life.

A fascinating page-turner about a Sudanese refugees long journey to freedom. Heartbreaking and inspiring. I LOVED it! Check out the documentary film of the same name featuring John Bul Dau and several other Sudanese refugees as they journey from their homes to refugee camps and finally to the United States. You may be surprised at what they discovered in America.
